Thanks, Mother
Thanks for taking care of us, feeding and clothing us as children, especially when you were alone and it was all on your shoulders.
Thanks for the gift of good health, for having more than one of us so we had someone to play with, and for being health conscious.
Thanks, but only a little, for taking us to get our shots. As we moved and packed and unpacked so many times, your consistent diligent work to keep each house we lived in - clean, decorated, and in order - provided a stable environment for us.
Thank you for attending all the programs, games, and meetings, for all the cards and letters you have written and continue to write to all of us, and for all the visits to each of us. Thanks for helping us to get to know our extended family, for placing value on family, and for establishing all our family traditions.
Thank you for all the preparing, cooking, and serving of all those meals for all the years and for washing the mountain ranges of laundry.
Thanks for transmitting your love of gardening to us.
Your adventurous joy in discovering more about the world was contagious. We remember you learning Japanese on the boat to Japan, gaining a carpet for our TV from a Gypsy trader and cooking the 100 pounds of potato dishes in Germany, and deftly navigating the Italian dialects all over Italy.
Thank you for your wonderful sense of humor. Remembering our family gatherings, one thing that comes to mind is laughing together. Thank you for sharing your good humor with all of us.
Thank you for your appreciation of fine things you have shared with us. Thanks so much for loving beauty, endeavoring to create and surround us with beautiful things in the clothes and other articles you made for us, the meals you prepared for us, items you purchased, the holiday decorations you put up in the different houses we lived in, books you read to us, the places you took us to, the music you played for us and took us to hear, and the lovely gardens you planted.
We thank God for you. We love you dearly.
