Obituary of Jane Killebrew
Jane Williams Killebrew, a New Canaan resident for over 50 years died Friday November 7, 2008 at the New Canaan Inn at the age of 95. Born in Cleveland, Ohio September 19, 1913 she was the daughter of the late Bernard and Charlotte Hilley Werner. Jane was predeceased by her two husbands. William M. Williams and Sterling E. Killebrew. She was also predeceased by her brother, Stanley Werner of Tucson, AZ and her sister, Ruth Smith, of Winston-Salem, NC. A social worker, she was employed for many years as a Supervisor in the Child Welfare Department for the State of Connecticut in Stamford. She received both her Bachelors and Masters degrees in Social work from Case Western Reserve in Cleveland.
She is survived by her daughter, Martha Williams of New York City, and her son, David Williams of Yorkville, NY. She is also survived by her step-children, Linday Mortner of Dover, New Hampshire; Susan Jenkins of Burlington, VT; David Killebrew of Newport RI; and nieces Sally Newendyke of Spring Hill, KS, and Susan Bristol of Newington, CT.
Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery, New Canaan, CT. A Memorial Service will be held at the New Canaan Inn on December 5, 2008 at 3:00 pm.
