Aunt Betsy-
I cannot express how much I miss her. I was honored to have been named after her and I will forever remember her humor, love of nursing, adoration of her children, and empathy for all she encountered. What a woman. I think of her every day. Every day.

I know she is missed by everone who knew her. She will always have a place in my heart. Good bye Betsy. Love, Bob

I only knew Betsy from high school. I remember her smiling face in the classrooms and hallways. Her friends and family should know that hundreds of fellow classmates have been pulling for her. We had hoped she would make the 40th reunion. If she had, we would have showered her in love and attention. Betsy will not be forgotten.

Betsy - Although we hadn't seen each other in many years, I thought of you often and had really hoped to see you last weekend. I know I'm lucky to count you among my angels now - just as I was lucky to have been able to count you as a friend all those years ago. I will miss you. My love to your family - those I met and those I never met - Thank you for sharing Betsy with us. Connie Eberhart

I went to high school with Betsy and she was one of those people you remember with a laugh and a smile. Her class just celebrated its 40th Reunion and how we talked about her! I wish she had been there to see all her friends and to know how much love was sent her way. She was a joy to know. She will be missed.

May Betsy's family take comfort in their memories of her. It is true, LMS wins unfair battles. I lost my mother earlier this year to the same illness and it seems here, again, another selfless and loving person has been taken. Sending strength and my most sincere condolences to all of her loved ones...

Dearest Betsy, It is difficult to articulate what a profound loss this is and how much you will be missed. Your grace, relentless humor, empathy towards others and genuine, deep love of your children, family and friends were an inspiration to us all! We have been blessed to have known you and you will be in our hearts forever. Much Love, Kim

Who's going to buck me up with back and forth emails late at night? Who's going to say, "We can do this, C.," as we both approached our scans about the same time. She had me believing it. Now I'm not so sure.
Other than the jerk who misdiagnosed her early on, she was pro-everybody. If she had a negative remark, she always balanced it with a couple of positive ones. Her negatives, in regard to LMS, often had language as heard in Phyllis Diller's nightclub act but talking that way helped us keep from crying. You can be sure the "expletives deleted" have been many as I write this.
She couldn't say enough good things about family members. Rightfully so.
Betsy visited me at Moffitt after one of my thoracotomies. I looked like I'd been through four thoracotomies. She was perfectly groomed and lovely. Husband Pete not so bad either. I once remarked I loved penguins (she'd said Dr. Jarnigan, of MSK, looked very cute, just like a little penguin). We always referred to him as the cute little penguin doc, and she brought me a beautiful wooden one that day she visited.
Well, Betsy, I was going to light a candle for you here on the coffee table. Then I realized you'd damn me out for doing that in the presence of my oxygen!
I'm off to get my checkbook to send a donation to the LMS Direct Research Foundation.
Love, Carolyn Waddel

There are no words to explain how I feel about Betsy's death. There are no words to explain how senseless her death is. LMS devastates.
Betsy always made me laugh with her raucous sense of humor and Betsy always let me know how much she cared about her family, nuclear and extended, her friends, her work, and about me.
I will miss her always.
Much love to Pete and the kids.
