To my dear cousins Karen and Pam and your families. My prayers for comfort and peace have been continuous since I heard of Aunt Alice's passing. I will always remember when Aunt Alice walked into a room her infectious smile brought a positive and lighthearted mood to the room. Her presence made you feel as though your best friend had come to spend time with you. I have wonderful memories of your mom, dad, and you both sharing Thanksgiving with us in NJ when we were young. What fun family times we had. When my dad died, during the funeral Aunt Alice spent the night at our home. My Shannon, who is now 24, was just an infant and since I was up most of the night your mom stayed up with me talking, laughing, and crying together. She shared funny stories about my dad and their childhood together. She shared family stories about Grandma and Grandpa Castle and all the O'Neil relatives. Quite the cast of characters those Irish relatives of ours. I will always remember your mom, my dear Aunt as warm- hearted, compassionate, joyful, lovely and kind. She will be dearly missed. Love and Blessings to you and yours.

Its taken me a long time to be able to write something because Ive had a hard time trying to think how to do justice to the only person Ive ever referred to as my second mother.
Random thoughts and memories Im lucky to have:
I cant think of another person that was a more devoted wife to her husband Bob, and devoted mother to her amazing daughters.
I can vividly recall the Jones house in Greenawalds that I spent half my childhood in.
Alice was Martha Stewart as a housekeeper before Martha existed. Everything was always spotless and well organized. Including Alice herself. She was always put together no matter what she was doing. I cant think of her dressing a particular way, rather it was the way she carried herself.
In line with her running a smooth household she always kept some special treats from Bobs Bake Shop in Crest Plaza, around. Marble looking cookies that I think we used to call Chinese cookies but cant imagine why now. And the back porch closet always had a soda crate filled with Pepsi. It all seemed so magical. Nothing to excess, but just enough to be special.
I can easily picture Alice and Bob sitting across from each other in the soft pink alcove in the kitchen. Each with part of the newspaper in hand. Or other times chatting after a meal.
Everything was always calm there. I never, ever remember Alice raising her voice to anyone, about anything. And remember when shed talk to me, I knew she was really listening. And when she laughed about something, many times it was huge. Her tossing her head back with a huge smile on her face.
As a child I knew that Bob had some health issues, but as a child I could not have imagined how serious they might be. I now believe that Alice worked so hard to keep things running smoothly for Bobs health and to keep her beloved family whole. Nothing was more important to her which was clear when Bob left us all.
I cant image how much driving Alice did taking Pam and me here and picking us up there. All with a smile. Shed make an excellent Uber driver.
I also remember Alice burning the trash in the evening while we played in the field next to the house. That field seemed so enormous....like having a private park. Depending on the time of year wed chase lightning bugs while off in the back corner up the hill would be Alice tending the burning trash, still looking magazine worthy in an understated but still classy way.
Alice would ask my about my grandfather, Poppop, who was a wonderful chef. Alice called him Harry the Crust King since his strawberry pies were legendary. Alice would have a huge smile while wed discuss amazing desserts.
I feel very blessed to have had Alice as my second Mom. She was a great role model as well as someone that added so much to my childhood and clearly so many others.

We returned last night from a two week cruise, and I have spent the last hour opening mail. First I found our Christmas card to Aunt Alice "returned to sender" which was an omen of the news your card contained, Karen. Your mother was a lovely woman in every way, a woman I always admired with a sharp mind, kind spirit, beautiful carriage, engaging laugh. How she loved your father and you and her special grandchildren. And how you loved your mother and provided such excellent support and care for her during these post-accident years. There is a comforting peace in death, knowing that the life that has passed was lived fully and has left so many positive memories. I remember high heels (always!!!), red lipstick and dark hair, energy galore, German chocolate cakes from Hess store, trips to Allentown, studying history in the car for her quiet time, lunch dates with her boyfriend Tyler in New Canaan, decorating flair, thoughtful Christmas presents (always clothes or accessories which Sandy and I loved), family visits, discussing NYT articles, etc. I'm shedding a tear, but remembering her with great fondness!
Hugs to you both.

Dear Pam and Family,
Although I never had the pleasure of meeting Alice, I have heard wonderful stories of her life from Pam. Every mother's greatest pride is seeing her children living a life where God is at the center. No doubt Alice was happy to see Pam's light shine so brightly!
I will keep you in my prayers.

Dear Pam and Family,
I feel blessed to have known your mom all these years. "Nana Alice" was very special to the Stryker Family. She was always so kind to us, she will be missed. We will be thinking of all the memories of her especially this Christmas season as we have all the beautiful ornaments she gave the kids hanging on our tree.
Johnny and Allison were clearly her pride and joy, her greatest treasures. She always beamed her lovely smile whenever they were spoken about.
I am so sorry for your loss. You have been so dedicated to her, I know what a comfort you have been to her. You are all in my prayers.

Not only am I an employee at Autumn lake, but our common bond was our mothers. She will be greatly missed. Florence

Molly may have already written, cut I wanted to add my sincere condolences. I lost my father when he was just 50 and my mother when she was 84, so I know the pain of the loss and the joy of your having her so long. We all pass away. Living as she would have wanted you to is perhaps the best way to honor of her memory.

Dear Pam, John, Allison, Johnny & Karen,
Alice will be greatly missed. I have wonderful memories spending time with her and your family growing up with Pam and then continuing my friendship with Alice through the years as we met for lunch when she was still in PA. She was always so graceful and beautiful and had that wonderful smile that Pam inherited, too. She is now at peace with her beloved Bob, but will always be in our hearts and in our memories. Peace to all of you at this difficult time. Love, J&J
