It is with great sadness that I learned of Tom's passing. We were best friends in Manhasset, Long Island, after he moved there in 1953.
We played a lot of golf and tennis, raced sailboats and shared many adolescent experiences. Tom once asked me what spring sport he should play at the high school. After convincing him that lacrosse would be best for him, he went on to become a star in high school and Princeton, and he and his sons became legends in the sport.
Regretfully, I've only seen Tom and Joan at a few high school reunions since the 1960s when our lives took different turns, but we were still bonded - friends for life.
My deepest sympathies and condolences to his family.
