I was blessed to have been at Jennison my entire working career, and was privileged to have know Sig for more than 40 years. He will be sorely missed at the office, but his legacy will live on for many years to come.
The month I reached 25 years at the company, he called me down to his office, and I was very concerned I had done something wrong, but he just wanted to be the one to express appreciation on behalf of the firm for the milestone. It was typical of his strong belief that family ties within the company were an important aspect of the culture he had such a big part in creating.

I joined Jennison in early 1972. I remember Sig asking me what my winners were, and I think his passion for excellence and for winning were foundations of his life. Sig was a great investor, a warm and kind hearted man, who inspired others to be their very best. My sincere condolences to his family.

Dear Papou,
I love you so much. You have been such an import part of our whole family’s life. You are and have always been such an inspiration to me. All I can think about now is the good times we’ve shared and your laugh. Your laughter is so infectious. I can still remember driving around on one of our trips talking about your part time jobs as Batman and 007 fighting crime across the globe and then we come to find out there’s a Batman symbol on the cab we were riding in! We really were in one of your bat-mobiles Ahahah. I will always smile when I think about laughing with you. Some of my favorite moments in life have been by your side, you’ve shown Sam and I so much of this beautiful world and for that I will always be grateful. We’ve shared experiences at some of the most beautiful and spiritual places, from the Temple of Heaven in China, the Vatican in Rome, La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, the Parthenon in Athens, to the many little churches we stopped to photograph all over Greece. The places we have traveled to have left a deep impact on me and the fact I got to share that with you is so special. Whenever I pickup a camera I am always reminded of our photo adventures and how you shared your passion for photography and travel with me. Thank you for everything you have done for our me and our entire family. Thank you for showing us the world. I may not be able to be your bodyguard on your next journey but just know I will always be with you. You will always be with us as we will always be with you . I love you forever Papou. Σε αγαπώ.
Your travel buddy, international bodyguard, and loving Grandson,
Nicholas

Mr. Segalas (as we was known to all of Anthony's childhood friends) was always 10 feet tall. He loved to watch us play ball and could also zip a football to us when we were playing around in the street or at his home in Sherman, CT. He and my father, Timothy (Class of 55) attended Trinity together and my Dad never failed to tell me the story on how Spiros came to his aid one afternoon at the 96th West bus stop when some local kids were harassing my father. "When Sige appeared, they simply scattered and ran north," he said. "They never came back."
My favorite memory was around sixth grade when Mr. Segalas treated Anthony and some of his friends to a game at Yankee Stadium during the school week no less. We had great seats along the first base line. A foul pop came our way, and Spiro almost made a catch worthy of WIllie Mays to get it. It tumbled from his hands and there was a mad scramble. He joked that was the first time he had dropped one in a long time.
Over the years as we grew into men and built our lives, many of us left NYC. But when we did get together and saw him, he was always asking us about our lives, our families and of course, what we thought about the Yankees' chances that year.
One night, back in the 1990's I think I had Louise Rukeseyers's financial show on and thee was Mr. Segelas being interviewed on the state of the American economy. I knew he worked on Wall Street like my Dad. "Holy ..,, I said, that's Mr. Segalas!" I thought. I was hoping he was going to be asked a question about Jesse Barfield but it was mostly about the bond market. Anyway, I learned a lot about the bond market. Barfield, on the other hand, we should have sold short.
He worked his whole life right up to the end. He raised an amazing family and had many friends. He was the legend that lived up to every inch of his reputation. That don't make them like that anymore.

A remarkably approachable, likable, open minded and genuine individual from the first day I had the pleasure of meeting him. Many will remember Sig for his investment prowess. I’ll remember him for the uniquely decent person he was.

Dear Dad,
You will always be my first and greatest hero. Your professional career is hall of fame legendary. i was only 6 when i first heard of your athletic accomplishments. You set the bar high and thank you for passing on your athleticism and showing me what fierce dedication and competitive drive could help accomplish.
You inspired your family and were idolized. I loved having you on the sidelines cheering me on, even if you found yourself wandering into the end zone and had a blast watching the girls on the soccer and lacrosse fields together.
You perfect imperfection was a true contrast in styles. Your boundless optimism and curiosity drove you professionally, and then your charming impatience was on display as you would write off one favorite sports teams after another when a season started poorly. And then of course the fun we had at restaurants waiting for coffee or your fresh pepper to come. You provided great entertainment and had such a wonderful sense of humor.
Thank you for everything. The world feels a bit emptier, less bright and lonelier than it did before but your spirit will carry on in all of us. i love you more than you can imagine and will miss you. Rest in peace Dad, please give Mom a kiss for me.
Love,
Anthony

There are moments in life that shape who we become and the path we take. 25 years ago I had one of those moments. I thought I wanted to be a trader on the floor of the NYSE and pursue a lifelong career in finance. Mr. Segalas brought me into the offices at Jennison Associates LLC and spent some time sharing his journey and wisdom with me. Next he sent me to the floor of the exchange with Goldman Sachs to get a real feel for what I was signing up for.
From our conversation is was evident to me that some of the keys to his success had come from purpose and passion. At 19 years old I had not factored those criteria into my career path. This was the day I decided to pivot my focus to entrepreneurship. This path has led me into many industries and businesses for which I am very grateful.

Dad, I shall miss you dearly. You and I had a special bond that went beyond father and daughter. We were the best of friends who enjoyed getting in trouble with Mom, being silly, being overly dramatic, and simply having fun. I'll miss our walks on the road, listening to Rod Stewart, talking about the dogs, playing games, and most of all just sitting in your den together. You will always be in my heart.
