Obituary of Eileen Owen McCorry

Eileen Owen McCorry, 75, of Wilton, CT, passed away on November 4, 2020 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Eileen was born on June 21, 1945 in Queens, NY to the late Thomas and Mary Rose Owen. Eileen leaves behind a beautiful legacy created from a life built on a deep faith in God and a belief in living one’s values. Active in her church and community, Eileen demonstrated her understanding that investment in people and communities was the way to build lasting, loving relationships and a fulfilled life. Together with her husband Jim, Eileen opened her home and heart to anyone who needed it including hosting three Vietnamese refugees for six months, sponsoring a family friend and her family to emigrate from Trinidad, and numerous other actions for people looking for a safe haven. All the while demonstrating through her actions the power of relationships and a nurturing environment to build better lives. Eileen created beauty and warmth wherever she went. Her favorite times were spent cooking elaborate meals, creating beautiful traditions, happy experiences, and magical memories in her home for family and friends. Her family, loved ones, and all who knew her benefited from her immense kindness, nurturing and caring nature, her high aesthetic, and her wonderful generosity. Eileen loved any opportunity to laugh, dance, and play a raucous round of Taboo. She loved spending time with family and friends, cooking, entertaining, reading, gardening, playing games, tennis, decorating, renovating, and tinkering with her gadgets. She and her husband James were married 54 years and were a glowing example of deep love, devotion, and partnership. In addition to her husband, Eileen leaves behind five daughters, Shelia McCorry, Claire Cavalea, Robin McCorry Law, Amanda McCorry, and Jamie McCorry; sons-in-law Marc Cavalea, Christopher Law, Corey Saunders, and Paul LaBarbera; five grandchildren, a grandnephew, and a grandniece. Beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, Nana, aunt, and friend. A Mass of Christian Burial to Celebrate Eileen’s life will be held on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at 11:00am at St. Aloysius Church, New Canaan, CT. Interment is private.
