Hello Susan & Family - This last week I sadly learned of your parents passing while having breakfast with some old Lafayette buddies including Leo Helmers (wife Stacey best friends with Sally) who mentioned this to me. I have fond memories of both of them - you were truly blessed with great parents! Super people. Like is mentioned in your mom’s obituary imagining them in Heaven, and reunited with their wonderful daughter, your sister Sally. God Bless all of you. With love, Bill Altier & family

Dear Susan,
We just learned of Ed and Viv's passing and want to let you know how much we loved your folks. Sherry and I have been friends with Ed and Viv for some 60 plus years dating back to Kingston. We enjoyed many social activities with them when we all lived in Kingston. We both took different jobs with IBM but always stayed in touch. We have such good memories with them and will never forget. We met many great people during my 30 years with IBM and during the years after retirement, but Ed and Viv were the best. Our best to you Susan and to your family.

We got to know Ed and Vivian as a result our daughter Alisa's friendship with Sue when they attended New Canaan High School together. However I really got to know them after we had moved away from New Canaan as a result of Ed's loyalty, dedication and service to Lafayette College where I could always count on renewing our friendship at alumni events on campus in Easton, PA .a couple of times a year. They will be missed.

Vivian, Ed, Sally and Susan were back- door neighbors of the four Verdiles the four years we lived in New Canaan, Ct. I remember going to their back door early one morning to drop off something for Viv. I had heard a vacuum running, so when Viv opened the door I was amazed at how beautifully dressed and made up she was. I asked if she was vacuuming her house that morning and she said she was. I asked if she always dressed like that when she cleaned, and she responded, "Yes I always am." How like Viv to always look her best. We also remember how much Ed loved to work in his yard, and he always kept his place looking pristine.
We moved from New Canaan in 1983, but we have always stayed in touch by phone and email, and we did get to visit with each other at our homes a few times after we moved. Vivian and Ed were such wonderful and caring neighbors. I know they will be sorely missed by all their friends and family members, including their church family where Ed was so active..

I remember when I broke my finger at East School in 1985 and Mrs. Elbert was the school nurse that day. I was in pain as a third grader and she comforted me, cheered me up and helped me wait until my mother (a friend of hers) came to pick me up to take me to the hospital. It was a hard day for me and she brightened it ! With gratitude, Katie Friend
