I considered Bill one of my closest friends in the years we spent at Williston. I was the least accomplished athlete, and interested in the arts, not sciences, and many other seemingly opposite characteristics would have dictated being colleagues only. But I always felt Bill was was a true and dedicated friend, And I knew he thought that way about me as well. I am truly saddened by his passing, even though we had lost touch since graduation. If I were not in Panama, where I came from and to where I returned after retiring, I would be at his funeral paying my respects. My sincere and heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.
May he Rest In Peace.

Jim and Maggie Edwards,
Our deepest condolences to Nancy, Bill's children and grandchildren. I was both a friend, classmate and swim teammate of his during the '64 & '65 years that we attended Williston. He was a great student and athlete. I saw him at our 50th reunion and he had't changed a bit. So easily recognizable with a gracious smile and sense of humor. He will be missed by those he impacted in this world. Thanks for the opportunity to be your friend.

The world is a much smaller place without Bill Murphy. Our deepest sympathy to Nancy and his children. He was a wonderful friend; thoughtful, interested, and funny
very, very, funny. He was very smart too which was quite unusual for a Harvard
graduate. NO ONE was more fun on the golf course than Bill. A good player, great
partner and funnier than all get out. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him!

There aren't enough words to describe what a thoughtful, caring, intelligent and wonderful man Bill Murphy was. He was a pleasure to work with over these past few years. As a company, we always appreciated his offering to give referrals to other associations and on a personal level he was always the giver of good advice and had a contagious smile and wonderful personality. He will be missed here on earth by many, but he will be loved and cared for in his new resting place. Rest in Peace Bill.
