I was his New Canaan neighbor for 30 years, before he sold the house and moved downtown. He had charisma and congeniality, in spades. Although we are gone from New Canaan, I bet he will be greatly missed there.

I am very sorry to hear of Bob's death. He & I were at Notre Dame together all those years ago. We lived on the same floors, first at Zahm & later at Lyons Hall. He has been an enduring figure in my memory of my time at ND. We had a lot of fun together & got into a bit of mischief now & then! The last time we talked was at the 40th Reunion. Bob was from Teaneck & I was from nearby Pearl River, N.Y. I recently came across a photo of Bob & I standing outside my house there. We were sophomores at the time. I remember him as a smart guy & an outstanding athlete. If not for some tragic injuries, he could have been one of the greatest. He was a very talented athlete; and, one year, on the National Championship team! He was also a very happy & up-beat person who was a delight to spend time with. My condolences to his family.

I am so sorry to hear that Bob passed away. I will always cherish our memories
of working together at Ski Magazine and visiting Vail 4 times over the course of
one year to set up the first Ski Industry Week. We also started the NASTAR
Racing program during his tenure at Ski.
Cate and family, please know that I am thinking about you and will miss Bob's
smile and zest for life.

Dear Cate and Arrix family members ,
Having just heard of Bob’s passing, Pat and I would like to extend our heart felt sympathy to all of you.
Please know he was one of our favorite people and always enjoyed his commentary on all that swirls arounds us. Quite simply he “ told it like it was “ and we always found that refreshing and at times most amusing as he was accurate on most accounts. Loved playing devils advocate with him as it relates to Notre Dame which he was very proud of!
While his passing is not easy,I’ve always found that in losing a loved one ,that focusing on how fortunate you were to have him always helped ease the pain of separation. Just reflecting on all the good times is bound to bring a smile to your face.
We are in Maine at the moment but I hope to get down for the service on Wednesday at St.A’s.
Please know that Bob is in our prayers are as all of you. He lived a great life and I know you are all very proud,
Fondly, Pat and Ed McCarrick
