Dear Lillian,
Ernie was a great friend of a group of "kids" than hung out together at the CGA and on liberty. I haven't seen him since but that doesn't mean I've forgotten what he meant to me and our group. Now all of us are gone but Al Tingley and me. He was a great friend and he'll be missed at our upcoming reunion and I hope you'll be there.
With love and sympathy,
Clyde

I only had the privilege to meet Ernie and Lillian a few times but it was nice to know that I had family in the U.S. I will remember Ernie as a kind and wonderful man who immediately treated my parents and my brothers as family. He will be missed.

Our deepest condolences to the Mayer family. Our prayers are with you.
"Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also." - The Gospel of John 14:1-3

My father-in-law, Ernest Mayer, was a man of deep integrity, kindness, quiet strength, and compassion. I will miss him dearly. He and Lily were excellent role models to their sons, Drew and Brad, and I always knew I "hit the jackpot" when, through God's grace, I met Brad who introduced me to his brother, Drew. I then married Drew and became a part of this loving family. Rest in peace, dear Ernie. Thank you for being the best father-in-law. I will miss our heartfelt talks.

Ernie not only took my Daughter Maureen lovingly into his wonderful family, he treating her and all our Russo clan as if we really always knew and loved his sons Drew, Brad and his Beauty Queen wife Lily. In fact, my deceased wife Maureen and I also unknowingly served “Uncle Sam” at Ramey Air Force Base PR, together with Ernie and his sweetheart Lilly in the 1950s. We of course found out decades later. All of us will miss Ernie and will keep him in our prayers.
