Obituary of John P. Hickey

John Patrick Hickey, age 50, a resident of New Canaan for over 15 years died suddenly Thursday evening December 12, 2018. Born in Queens, New York, March 12, 1968, he was the son Patrick Hickey of New Hyde Park, NY and the late Frances McNamara Hickey. John was the loving husband of Linda Hickey.

John was captain of his High School soccer team and his passion for soccer led him to then

play for several club teams throughout the years including Gottschee Soccer Club, Queens, NY and St Benedict Soccer Club in Richmond Hill NY.

After receiving a soccer scholarship from Ohio Wesleyan College, and a member of Phi Kappa Psi, John then graduated from St John’s University with a BA in Business and a Master’s in Finance.

After 10 years as an Executive Director and Sales Trader with JP Morgan in NY, John had been working at Stifel for last couple of years.

John was the salt of the earth. He always had a smile on his face and a

hearty hand shake to follow and if you needed it, an amazing bear hug to

give you. He never said no to anyone in need. He was incredibly loyal

and beyond kind. He loved people and people loved him.

You knew John was in the room with his hearty laugh. He was presence,

he was a force. He was one of the good ones.

In addition to his wife Linda and father Patrick, John is survived by a son, Jack

William Hickey and his daughter Fiona Frances Hickey. And one brother, Patrick Hickey(Maritza) of Baldwin Harbor, NY

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday Jan 11, at

11:00 AM in St. Aloysius Church, Cherry Street, New Canaan, CT

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the family to help defray the cost of college  tuition for his children.
