I am terribly saddened to have read Randy's obituary this evening. How shocking. My condolences go to Nina of course, Tim and Connie, and all of Randy's children and family. I will always remember Randy as a very kind-hearted man, with a great sense of humor.
I'm sorry that my family's relocation has kept me from being in close touch with all of you. Please know that I send you my love.

Like so many, I grew up with Randy at Troop. He was the friend that everyone dreams of having. He was so funny and kind, smart, and steadfast. I also remember that all the Troop parents loved Randy; when there was a 'situation' that needed 'explaining' the best hope any of us had was to have Randy do the talking! Through Troop, through college, and beyond, I've cherished him as a friend. My sympathies to his family - - I hope there's comfort in knowing how loved he was by so many of us.

Captain Brown, Randy, Bear, Santa, Uncle Buck, as I write these names I can see your smiling face and hear your laugh; as a little trooper, in college at Cornell, at the farm in Ithaca, and back in New Canaan at the Farmers’s market and In one of your beautiful gardens. My thoughts and love are with your family and friends who loved you as deeply as you loved them. I love you Bear. ❤️

So sorry to hear of Randy’s passing. He was fun, funny, intelligent, stubborn, caring and talented. All things that make up a good man in my opinion. One of my favorite memories of Randy is when one Christmas Eve he showed my wife and kids his Honda and trailer that were all rigged up with Christmas lights. The kids couldn’t believe it. Only Randy could have come up with such an elaborate set up. It looked as if Santa’s sleigh was driving through NC. Rest In Peace your work is done my friend.

I am so very sorry for the loss of Randy! He was my brother’s best childhood friend and a second brother to me in my childhood. I remember sitting on his shoulders as we performed during vaulting. I remember playing horse brush football....he picked me up and carried me under his arm to a touchdown! So kind,so encouraging, so protective....he was my other brother when he lived with our family. We recently reconnected when my brother passed away suddenly 3 years ago!. I am so grateful we were able to chat again! I know Jeff will welcome him with love and hugs. My prayers and thoughts are with his family during this difficult time!

I grew up with Randy at New Canaan Mounted Troop and saw him at our group's reunions a few different summers in the last 18 years. A kinder, gentler soul never walked this earth. He was side splittingly funny as a kid, a great Troop representative as a rider and worked at the barn fixing anything and everything whenever he was around after he graduated. His love of all things in the garden was clear to anyone who talked to him. The world is a lonelier place just knowing he's not here anymore.
