Linnea Marie Wood, resident of New Canaan, CT for 52 years, passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at the age of 85. Born May 22, 1923 in Narpes Bole, Finland, she was the daughter of the late Karl and Vera Osterlund. Linnea shall always be remembered for both her inner and obvious beauty, her quick wit and sense of humor and her love for life. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Linnea is survived by her loving and devoted husband, William Wood, her brother, Karl Bruno Svalstedt of South Norwalk, her sister, Astrid Astorino of Spencer, MA, her uncle, Paul Hogback of Skultana, Sweden and her many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the Hoyt Funeral Home, 199 Main St. New Canaan. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, New Canaan. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, January 23, 2009 from 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations be made to the New Canaan Volunteer Ambulance Corps, 182 South Ave, New Canaan, CT 06840
