Obituary of Janet Campbell

Janet Collins Campbell, 89, an Ohio native who had moved to New Canaan in 2010 to be closer to her family, died on Saturday, December 17. Born and raised in Akron, Ohio, she graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. After graduation, she married her college sweetheart, Donald E. Campbell, and lived in Lancaster, Ohio and Ramsey, New Jersey before re-locating to Hudson, Ohio where she lived for 35 years. In Hudson, she was an active member and former deaconess of the First Congregational Church as well as a member of the DAR, Colonial Dames and PEO. She moved to the New Canaan Inn in 2010 where she was an enthusiastic participant in the Inn Notes singing group. She is survived by her three daughters: Cecily C. Eldridge and her husband John of Merrimack, NH.; Christine C. Walters and her husband Robert of Charlotte, NC; and Carol C. McDermott and her husband Paul of New Canaan as well as eight grandchildren (Amy Troy, Sarah Mortimer, Matthew Walters, Lisa Brown, Kathryn Walters, Gregory McDermott, Brian McDermott, Luke McDermott) and two great-grandchildren (Allison and Johnathan Mortimer). She was pre-deceased by her husband in 1989. The funeral service will be on Wednesday, December 28 at First Congregational Church of Hudson, Ohio.
