Obituary of Erich Bruhn
Erich W. Bruhn, 81, long time resident of New Canaan, CT, passed away on January 19, 2014 at Norwalk Hospital surrounded by his loving family, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. Mr. Bruhn was born on October 13, 1932 in Ridgewood, NJ to the late Wilhelm L. and Charlotte Rangartz Bruhn.
He graduated from the University of Colorado Boulder where he studied business. He served in the Army after the Korean War as a military police officer stationed in Germany. He worked for Newsweek Magazine for 40 years in advertising, sales and marketing, worldwide. He had a keen interest in politics and was actively involved in many of the town issues where he brought a passionate perspective to the discussions. He highly valued his friends and colleagues from the friday morning town Advertiser meetings. He was a participant in New Canaan's CERT program and Senior Mens Club where he formed numerous friendships. He could be found almost daily in the corner chair at Brueggers with his longtime breakfast club friends.
He was married to Anne for 50 years. Father of Heidi (Chester) Trocha, Erich (Kristin) Bruhn, Chris (Sandy) Bruhn and Mike (Jen) Bruhn. Proud Papa of Chester, Kyle, Colin, Ryan, Alex, Jack, Hunter, Jake, Quinlin and the late Delaney.
A Memorial Mass to celebrate Erich’s life will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 10am at St. Aloysius Church in New Canaan, CT. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Erich’s name can be made to The Lustgarten Foundation 1111 Stewart Ave. Bethpage, NY 11714
