Obituary of Maria Di Muzio

Maria “Carmela” Di Muzio (nee Borgonsoli) died at her home in New Canaan, CT. on December 14, 2008. Born in Pretoro, Italy, she celebrated her 50th year in America this year. Carmela is survived by her two beloved grandchildren Jennifer Di Muzio of New Canaan and Christopher Di Muzio of Fairfield and her daughter-in-law Jeanne Di Muzio also of Fairfield. She is also survived by her sisters Rita Pietrantonio of Dayton Ohio, Christina Borgonsoli of Casoli Italy and Maria DiNicola of Pretoro, Italy. She will be greatly missed by her nephew and his wife Samuele and Melissa Pietrantonio of Dayton, her sister-in-law Lia Di Muzio of New Canaan along with numerous nieces and nephews and extended family here in America and back in Italy. Always greeted by her smile and laughter, Carmela will be remembered not only for her generous heart but also her wonderful cooking. Many generations can recall the bounty of the Di Muzio kitchen. An avid gardener, her green thumb brought forth a bounty of wonderful flowers and vegetables enjoyed by many. A woman of great faith, Carmela treasured her 50 years of membership at St. Aloysius Church. She is predeceased by her husband Domenico Di Muzio and her sons Rocco Di Muzio and Nicola “Lino” Di Muzio. There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Ritual will be celebrated at 10:00 am on December 20, 2008 at St. Aloysius Church, New Canaan, CT. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Di Muzio Family Memorial, a fund established to assist children’s libraries in Fairfield County.
