I was sorry I was unable to stop in to Hoyts for the calling hours, but was out of town. Miss Quinn was my Aunt Catherine Cody's best friend and many a plot was cooked up by them at Saxe.
In the old days when there were no special ed teachers or councellors, it was up to the Guidance councelors and assistant principals to get the kids through junior high alive and in one piece. Many a child owes their future successes to the choices they were guided into by Miss Quinn.
My lasting memory of Miss Quinn (The only name I could call her by) was of her walking the halls between classes with that infectious smile , that unique laugh, and that pat on the back to make sure you were headed in the right direction.

i remember Miss Quinn best for calling me to her office at in what is now the police station at the old Saxe building. I was sooo scared I was in trouble but she wanted me to buddy with a new girl in school. i think it is because of her i became a teacher!!! she was the best in the field.

I am sorry to hear about Miss Quinn. I think about her almost daily when I drive by Saxe Middle School. Miss Quinn WAS Saxe Junior High School! She was the Assistant Principal and those of us who ended up in her office knew she was not only its discipline but also its spirit. When our daughter entered Saxe in the early 1990s Miss Quinn remembered me immediately and also my sister, Dr. Gabrielle Carlson. She seemed to recall everyone with fondness and earned respect as an educator and administrator.
I shall sign my name recalling her Rhode Island accent,
Peter

My sympathies. I attended Saxe Jr. High in mid 60's. I believe she was the Assistant Principal then (approx 65).
