Obituary of Dorothy Palmer
Dorothy Hoyt Palmer, age 87 of Deland, Florida, formerly of New Canaan, Connecticut died Thursday November 10, 2011 in Florida surrounded by family. Born in New Canaan, CT June 27, 1924 she was the daughter of the late Percy and Zelie Hoyt. She was the wife of the late Richard A. Palmer Sr.
She was a graduate of New Canaan High School and also Katharine Gibbs School in New York City. Dorothy worked as a secretary at Silver Hill Hospital in New Canaan and continued her career at St. Aloysius School in New Canaan until retirement.
Survivors include her daughter Dede Palmer Perron and her husband David of St. Petersburg, FL, one son, David H. Palmer and his partner Michelle, of Wilton, Ct, daughter in-law Charlotte Palmer of Deland, Fl, nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband she was predeceased by her son Richard A. Palmer Jr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday November 18, 2011 at 10:00 AM at St. Aloysius Church, Cherry Street, New Canaan Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Hoyt Funeral Home, 199 Main Street, New Canaan on Thursday evening from 4 to 8 pm.
