Mary Virginia (Ginny) Flachsbart, age 94, a longtime New Canaan resident, died Tuesday, December 3, 2008 in Torrington, CT. Born in St Louis, MO, February 6, 1914 she was the daughter of the late Wellington and Ida Splain McNichols. She was predeceased in 1993 by her husband, John Henry Flachsbart. While living in New Canaan, Ginny was an avid golfer and oil painter, who also enjoyed gardening, playing the organ, and entertaining family and friends. Survivors include a son, Stephen Flachsbart and his wife Nancy of Bethel, CT, two daughters, Sue Strosahl and her husband Tim of Norfolk, CT, and Jill Flachsbart of Edison, NJ, three brothers, Wellington W. McNichols of Corpus Christi, TX, William McNichols of Springfield, MO and John McNichols of Columbus, IN, 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday December 8, 2008 at 11:30 AM in the Hoyt Funeral Home, 199 Main St., New Canaan with Interment to follow in Lakeview Cemetery.
