Bessie Vitiello, 82, died Sunday, November 23, 2008 at her home in New Canaan, after suffering for a long time with Alzheimer’s.

Born in Stamford on March 25, 1926 to Eleni (Glekas) and Costas Andrianos.

She was the widow of Fred M. Vitiello, who passed away in April of this year.

Bessie, along with her husband Fred, owned and operated the Heritage Inne, aka “The Taj” in New Canaan for many many years.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, George and Christos Andrianos, and three sisters, Julia Vaselakos, Catherine DiLorenzo and Penelope Andrianos.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Marguerite and Kenneth Cogswell, her son, Michael J. Vitiello, and three granddaughters, Jennifer and Melissa Cogswell and Jamie Lamborn, plus many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, November 29, at the Greek Church of the Annunciation, 1230 Newfield Avenue, Stamford, CT 06905. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, South Main Street, New Canaan.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, November 28th, from 4:00-8:00 pm at the Hoyt Funeral Home, 199 Main Street, New Canaan, CT 06840.
