Obituary of Nancy Ruscoe

Nancy Thompson Corcoran Ruscoe, 78, of Norwalk, died suddenly Friday, September 2, 2011 at Norwalk Hospital. Born January 5, 1933 in Norwalk, she was the daughter of the late Charles & Lucy Fitzpatrick Thompson. A New Canaan native, Nancy was a graduate of the NCHS class of 1951. She spent most of her working life in the food service industry waitressing at Howard Johnsons and John’s Best Pizza. She enjoyed watching New Canaan high school sports throughout the years. She was a diehard Oakland Raiders fan like no other. She also enjoyed taking weekend road trips with her husband never knowing where they were going, but most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends and she will be missed dearly. Nancy is survived by her loving husband, John J. Ruscoe of Norwalk, her beloved children, daughter, Colleen Bentley and her fiancé Tom of Bridgeport, her two sons, Frank Corcoran of Norwalk and Kevin Corcoran and his wife Lynn of Shelton, her two sisters, Mary Thompson Kellam of Fairfield and Shirley Thompson Sweet of Norwalk and her brother, Robert Thompson of Norwalk. She is also survived by her husband’s children, Jeanne Smith and her husband Eric of Akron, OH, Lisa Piatt and her husband Mike of Stratford and Robert Ruscoe of Newtown. As well as, her seven cherished grandchildren, whom she loved dearly, Ronnie, Charlie, Meghan, Kevin, Ryan, Shane and Danny along with her great-granddaughter, Lucy. Her loving sister in law and brothers in laws and many nieces and nephews. Also, her many family members, friends and her adored birds. She was predeceased by her two sisters, Connie Thompson DeLong, Rose Thompson Rosa and her brother, Charlie Thompson. The family would like to thank her caregivers. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at St. Aloysius Church at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, New Canaan The family will receive friends at the Hoyt Funeral Home, 199 Main St, New Canaan on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 from 4-8 PM.
