Obituary of Vincent Castiglia
Vincent J. Castiglia of Stamford, CT passed away on Monday, December 16, 2013. Born in New York, son of the late Vincent and Margaret Castiglia, Vincent was an entrepreneur who developed and sold two music businesses in addition to his real estate appraisal firm Castiglia Associates. During his tenure with Castiglia Associates, he was frequently called to testify in court as an expert witness. He also worked as an adjunct professor at Fairfield University, Teikyo Post University and the University of Connecticut in addition to teaching courses for the Appraisal Institute. After holding several offices, he was elected president of the Connecticut Chapter of the Appraisal Institute. During these years, he remained active in the Rotary Club. Before he could retire, Argent Mortgage Company and Pro Teck Valuation Services recruited him as a senior review appraiser. Throughout his life, he always spoke with pride about his Navy years in which he served as a Hospital Corpsman on the USS Gainard.
Vincent’s endless optimism and total devotion to his wife, children and grandchildren gave him the strength to overcome serious illnesses. A dedicated family man, he will be remembered for his unparalleled determination, reassuring inner peace and quiet wisdom. Vincent’s generous spirit and hearty laughter will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his beloved wife of thirty-three years Renata Gizelt Castiglia; son Dr. Neal Graber and his wife Cobie (Schwartz) and grandsons Harrison and Chase of New Canaan, CT; son Marc Graber and his wife Rachel (Fischler) and grandchildren Zachary and Emily of Commack, NY.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in his honor on December 28, 2013 at 11:30 AM at St. Aloysius, 21 Cherry Street, New Canaan, CT. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to his favorite charity, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
