Alice M. O’Neill, age 83, of Redding, CT and formerly a long-time resident of New Canaan, died Wednesday May 11, 2011 at Norwalk Hospital. Born in Joliet, IL September 5, 1927 she was the daughter of the late Margaret Donisch Beasley. She was married to the late James P. O’Neill and also her first husband, the late Eugene E. Smith. She graduated from the Art Institute of Chicago, was an interior designer and housewife. Alice is survived by her son, Michael Smith and his wife Jennifer Rose of Stamford, CT A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 16, 2011 at 12:00 Noon in the Hoyt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 199 Main Street, New Canaan. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 3 to 6 pm.
