Obituary of Gloria Flanagan

Gloria Ann Brusco Flanagan, October 20, 1949 - March 24, 2011 Resident of New Canaan, CT and Naples, FL After a courageous and dignified 5 year battle with cancer, Gloria passed away peacefully at Kindred Hospital in Los Angeles, California. Born in New York, NY, October 20, 1949, Gloria was predeceased by her father Fiore Brusco and survived by her mother Angelina Brusco. She was the beloved wife of Edward Flanagan for over 38 years. Gloria was loved by her late brother John Brusco and will forever be remembered by her children Edward Flanagan Jr and his spouse Andrea, and Lori Vincent and her spouse James, devoted brother Louis, loving sisters Teresa Downey and Tona Moore, grandchildren Dylan and Riley Vincent, along with countless other friends and family whom were blessed to know her. Gloria received a Bachelor's Degree in English from Saint John's University and a Master's Degree in Education from Hunter College. She was an award-wining and highly revered and respected ESL teacher for the New York Board Of Education for over 25 years. She loved arts and crafts, spending time at her winter home in Naples, FL, and being with her family and friends. Gloria touched the lives of many people with her radiant smile and infectious personality, and maintained her brave and positive spirit all the way to the end. The family will receive friends at the Hoyt Funeral Home, 199 Main St, New Canaan, CT on Friday, April 1st from 4pm to 9pm and Saturday, April 2nd from 9am to 12pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on April 2nd at 1pm at St. Aloysius Church, Cherry Street New Canaan, CT. The family requests donations in lieu of flowers be sent to The Angeles Clinic Foundation, 2001 Santa Monica Blvd, Suite 560 Santa Monica Ca 90404.
