Jane Walsh

Obituary of Jane Walsh

Jane Marie Walsh of Springfield, PA and New Canaan, CT died at home on Dec. 7 th with her brother Jim (first favorite) and sister Kathy by her side. The middle child of Miriam Ferris Walsh and James R. Walsh, Janie had a gift for bringing out the best in all of us, and for bringing down the house with her quick wit and hilarious sense of humor. She delivered zingers with perfect timing, had a smile for everyone she met, and her love was unconditional. Jane always said she was nineteen years old and was able to get away with it. She cherished her friends and the staff at Divine Providence Village. She loved participating in Special Olympics and proudly displayed her many medals for swimming, bowling, baseball and basketball. She loved music, dancing, going out to eat, teasing her nieces and nephews and —occasionally— chasing them around the house. In addition to her brother and sister, Jane is survived by her brother-in-law (second favorite), Rich Collins, nephews Jack, Chris and Mike Collins, her sister-in- law, Gerri Walsh, nephew James, his wife, Alison and daughter, Audrey; her nieces Laura Ann and Kathryn Walsh, her beloved aunts, Loretta Rossi and Margaret French; and her cousins. Donations in her memory may be made to Divine Providence Village, 686 Old Marple Road, Springfield, PA 19064. Visiting hours will be Dec. 15 from 3-5 and 7-9, at Hoyt Funeral Home, New Canaan, CT. Mass of Christian burial will be Monday, Dec. 16 at 10 a.m. St Aloysius Church, New Canaan CT, followed by internment at Gate of Heaven, Cemetery, Valhalla, NY.
