Obituary of Sharon Broecking

Sharon Seaver Broecking, 62, died Tuesday, December 21, 2010. Ms. Broecking, tragically, was killed when she was hit by a car when crossing the street in Westport. She was born December 15, 1948 in Pittsburgh, Pa., but grew up in New Canaan. She moved to Westport many years ago as a young adult and had been a resident there ever since. “Sherry”, as she was known to her friends, spent her life in service to others. For years she cared for the sick and the elderly of Westport seven days a week. She also cared for their animals, and could be seen daily, no matter what kind of weather, walking their dogs. She worked for many people at the Landsdown Condominium Complex on the Post Road in Westport. Sherry was passionate in her love for animals, often stopping by the Connecticut Humane Center just to visit with the dogs and cats who are there waiting for homes. She was known by all the people who knew her for her kind heart and gentle spirit. She was predeceased by her father, Howard E. Seaver. She is survived by her mother, Elinor Seaver Roll of New Canaan, her sister, Pamela Seaver VanDerheyden, married to Michael VanDerheyden of Fairfield, and their three children, Chelsea VanDerheyden, Heather VanDerheyden, and Hogan VanDerheyden, and her brother, James Seaver of Boston She is also survived by her aunt, Janet Annunziato, married to Dr. Lewis Annunziato of New Canaan, her cousins Mark Annunziato, David Annunziato, John Annunziato , Amy Annunziato Sullivan and by her beloved dog, Reggie. Services will be held at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 111 Oenoke Ridge Road, New Canaan, on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, New Canaan.
