Obituary of Madeleine Benko
Madeleine (Mal) Benko, age 87, a lifelong resident of New Canaan died Monday, November 22, 2010 in Wilton surrounded by her loving family. Born in Stamford, CT August 8, 1923 she was the daughter of the late James and Marie Murphy.
Mal, was an active member of the Catholic Daughters of America, had been very active in the Senior Citizens of New Canaan and had been previously employed at the New Canaan YMCA in the mid 70’s thru the 80’s. She was the wife of the late Stephen E. Benko.
Survivors include her daughter, Elaine B. Sullivan and her husband Mark of Wilton,CT
Her two sons, David Benko , and Stephen Benko and his wife Sue both of New Canaan.
She was affectionately known as Meema to her eleven Grandchildren
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday November 24, 2010 10:00 Am at St. Aloysius Church, Cherry Street, New Canaan with Interment in Lakeview Cemetery, New Canaan
