Obituary of Miriam Walsh

Miriam Ferris Walsh, of New Canaan, died at home on Sunday, Sept. 26th. Miriam was the youngest of four daughters of the late John and Anna Ferris. Born in New York City, she and her sisters, Helen, Nancy and Kay grew up in the Bronx among a large and loving, Irish, Catholic, family. She was the beloved wife of the late James R. Walsh for 55 years. Residing in Crestwood, NY for 40 years, where they raised their children, they were active and involved members at Annunciation Church. Miriam had a lifelong love of reading, history and early American art and furniture. She is survived by her son, James P. Walsh, his wife Gerri, daughters, Jane Marie Walsh, Kathleen Collins and her husband Richard, six grandchildren, James Walsh, and his wife Alison, Laura Ann Walsh and Kathryn Elizabeth Walsh, Jack Collins, Christopher Collins and Michael Collins. The family wishes to thank the staff of Visiting Nurse and Hospice of Fairfield County for their support during the past two months. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Wednesday, September 29, at St. Aloysius Church, New Canaan, CT. Internment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY. The family will receive friends at the Hoyt Funeral Home, in New Canaan on Tuesday, September 28 from from 3 – 5 and 7 – 9.
