Obituary of Carol Frame

Carol LaBonte Frame, 73, of Norwalk, formerly of New Canaan and Darien, died Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at Norwalk Hospital after a courageous fight with cancer. Born May 23, 1937, in Ithaca, NY, she was the daughter of the late Harold R. LaBonte & Helen Speno LaBonte. Carol’s early years and schooling were in Ithaca, NY where she was a self-described basketball-playing, tree climbing “tomboy.” After her freshman year at Ithaca High School, she completed high school at the Convent of the Sacred Heart, Noroton where she was captain of the basketball team and an avid tennis player. She was an active member of the Catholic Student Association at Manhattanville College from which she graduated in 1959 and later earned a Masters Degree in American History from Fordham University. After school, Carol settled in Fairfield County living for many years in Georgetown, Darien, New Canaan and Norwalk. She worked as a teacher in Georgetown, then as an office manager for Manpower in Stamford, and later worked for more than 25 years as an Administrative Assistant in the Principal’s Office and Guidance Dept. at Saxe Middle School in New Canaan. Carol had a kind, generous and prayerful spirit. She was a long time parishioner at St. Aloysius in New Canaan where she was active in the choir (with her beautiful soprano voice) and served for a time as director. She was a faithful member of the prayer group and a number of prayer and charitable associations. She was also closely connected to St. Jerome’s in Norwalk. A devoted and beloved mother, Carol is survived by her three children, Carolyn Sheehan Crosby of Germantown, MD, Andrea Sheehan Caruso of Brooklyn, NY and John F. Sheehan of Accord, NY; and her sister, Mary LaBonte White of Cambridge, MA. Eight grandchildren, Madeleine, Joseph, John & Nicholas Halo; Anastasia, Jasmine, Jett and Dashiell Caruso; and one great grandson, Elijah Halo-Pierre also survive. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 4, 2010 at St. Aloysius Church, New Canaan at 12:30 PM. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, New Canaan. The family will receive friends at the Hoyt Funeral Home, 199 Main St. New Canaan, on Friday, September 3, 2010 from 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Cancer Research Institute or the American Cancer Society.
