Dear Mr. Wells, Amanda, Chris And Peter,
I cannot begin to imagine the terrible loss you must be feeling at this time. I am truly sorry and I know that there are no words to heal your pain.
I wanted to share a fond memory. It brings a smile to my face and I hope it will bring one to yours as well.
I remember coming home late one Saturday night (one of many we girls spent on Paper Lane). Mr. Wells had picked us up on some dark corner in New Canaan after a party and we needed a safe ride home (no questions were asked).
When we got home Mrs. Wells was there, in the kitchen in her long nightgown, waiting. She was not angry at us (she never was). She was smiling and ready to hear all about it. She was there to listen to our high school dramas which seemed so important at the time. And listen she did! I can still hear her laughing and joking with us late into the night! Mrs. Wells never cut us short....ever! She was truly like another mother to many of us during those years. I only hope that I can lead by her beautiful example. I hope I can convey that same feeling of warmth and acceptance to my our children. She was a wonderful role model to all mothers/friends and she will be deeply missed.
