Obituary of Barbara Martin
Barbara Van Wyck Martin, 88, a resident of New Canaan for 64 years, died Friday, July 2, 2010 at her home.
Born June 20, 1922 in NY, NY, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Barent and Marjorie Swainson Van Wyck.
Barbara was predeceased by her husband of 52 years LeRoy C. Martin. She is survived by her two daughters, Lee M. De Young of East Quogue, NY and Barbara Martin of Boulder, Col, her sons-in-law Robert DeYoung and William Morris, her granddaughters Lily and Hannah DeYoung, and her cat Bugsy. Barbara (Bunny) will be remembered for her devotion to her family and wide circle of friends. She was an enthusiastic follower of thoroughbred horseracing, and she took great pride in raising and showing prize dachshunds and Dobermans. Bunny’s interests also included travel, theatre, movies, art, and contemporary fiction.
There will be a private interment in Quogue, NY at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice.
