Obituary of Anthony Massarella

Anthony Massarella, 76, of New Canaan, CT passed away on July 20, 2018 at Norwalk Hospital with his loving family by his side. Anthony was born on August 21, 1941 in Settefrati, Italy to the late Loreto and Donata Buzzeo Massarella. Tony settled in Stamford, CT from Italy in 1958. Where he began his career in landscaping. He married the love of his life Marie in October 1966; together they had 3 daughters, 3 son-in-laws and 10 grandchildren. In 1960 his company Massarella Landscaping was established. Tony’s passion and attention to detail for his work can be seen in numerous beautiful homes and corporate campuses throughout Connecticut. His time was reserved for his family, hunting trips and wine making. Tony’s many selfless and anonymous acts of kindness will be remembered by all who knew him. Tony will be remembered for his amazing ability to make an instant connection with anyone he met. His smile said it all. His unconditional selflessness drove him to be the incredible man that he was. Tony is survived by his wife of 51 years Marie Pollicella Massarella, 3 daughters and their husbands; Donna and Jay Pirrone of New Canaan, CT, Joanne and Michael Rosa of New Canaan, CT, and Laurie and Scott Wilson of Dallas, TX and his 10 grandchildren, Madison, Anthony, William, Marie-Grace and Henry Pirrone, Jessica and Avery Rosa, Charlotte, Caroline and Hadley Wilson. In addition Tony is survived by his sister and brother-in-law Alessandra and Anthony Sillo of New Canaan, CT. He is also survived by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Joseph and Anna Pollicella of Stamford, CT, as well as his beloved nieces and nephews. Tony was adored by all and will be forever missed. In Tony’s words we should always remember to “Be Good”. The family will receive friends today, Monday, July 23, 2018 from 4-8pm at Hoyt Funeral Home, 199 Main St, New Canaan, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Anthony’s life will be held Tuesday, July 24th at 10am at St. Aloysius Church, New Canaan. Entombment to follow at Lakeview Cemetery.
