Obituary of Ida Cogswell
Bridgewater, VT formerly of New Canaan, CT
Ida E. Cogswell, 95, passed away surrounded by her loving family at her home in Bridgewater, VT on July 11th.
She was born on September 28, 1922 the daughter of Stephen and Elizabeth (Lengyel) Sizensky.
Ida graduated from Roger Ludlow High School in Fairfield, CT and went to work for Bryant Electrical during WWII. While at Bryant Electric she met her future husband Cecil “Cy” Cogswell. Following her marriage to Cy Ida became a stay at home mom and raised their family in New Canaan, CT. In 1998 Ida moved to Vermont to enjoy being close to her family.
Ida enjoyed word search, NASCAR, and was a huge New England Patriots fan. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s sporting events over the years. She loved family gatherings and often played her harmonica at them. She was very kind, patient, and had a strong sense of faith.
She is survived by 3 children; Dennis, Kenneth, and Lori, 10 grandchildren; David, Christopher, Jason, Jennifer, Melissa, Jared, Jakub, Rebekah, Willie and Chris. 4 great grand children, and 5 great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents Ida is predeceased by her husband Cy, a son Kevin, and 2 brothers; Pete and Willie.
A Mass will be held on Friday August 3rd at 1:00pm at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in New Canaan, CT followed by burial in the Lakeview Cemetery. There will be a celebration of her life in Bridgewater in September.
