Obituary of Cathleen Clancy

Cathleen Clancy, a former resident of New Canaan and a resident of Norwalk for 25 years, passed away peacefully on May 24th, 2018 at Norwalk Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 20, 1958 in Belleville, New Jersey, the oldest daughter of Leo Clancy and the late Margaret Clancy. Cathleen graduated from New Canaan High School and Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts. Her career spanned over thirty years with several major financial services organizations. Cathleen was a strong believer in women’s colleges and women’s education. She loved to travel, was an avid reader and loved to engage in spirited discussions about politics. She was a master at the New York Times crossword puzzle. Cathleen is survived by her father (Dolores) of Palm City, Florida, and her five sisters, Christeen Triplett (Wayne) of Hickory, NC, Gayle Macklin (Duane) of Oro Valley, AZ, Alison Dodson of Houston, Texas, Cindy Cosgrove (Tom) and Denise Davis, both of Charlotte, NC, and ten nieces, four nephews, three great nieces and many lifelong friends who will miss her dearly. The family welcomes family and friends to a viewing at the Hoyt Funeral Home, 199 Main Street, New Canaan, CT on Tuesday, May 29th from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.. Another viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 30th, followed by a funeral service at 11:30 a.m. at the Hoyt Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Lakeview Cemetery in New Canaan, CT. The family would like to thank the wonderful nurses and doctors at Norwalk Hospital for the excellent care they provided Cathleen over the years. Flowers can be received at Hoyt Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers,a donation to your favorite charity in Cathleen's name would be appreciated.
