Obituary of Amelia Zorrilla
Amelia “Amy” Zorrilla, 85, of New Canaan, CT passed away peacefully Friday afternoon, May 14, 2010, in the presence of her loving family.
She was born on February 22, 1925 and was raised in St. Joseph’s Orphanage in Peekskill, New York along with some of her siblings. Amy, a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great grandmother will be greatly missed. She was a devoted wife to the late Joseph Zorrilla and a loving mother to Gloria, her husband Dr. Frank Masino and grandmother to Heather, Robert, and Paul; mother to Elaine, her husband Mr. Joseph Sergio and grandmother to Amie Marie; and mother to Diana and her husband Mr. Joseph Fetherston and grandmother to Michele, Michael, and Martin. She has two great grandchildren, Emma and Christian, and one on the way, “Carter”. Amy was one of 8 children in her family.
She was predeceased by 6 of her siblings and is survived by her sister, Gloria Ferrier from Sioux Falls, SD. Amy was a devout Catholic and enjoyed spending time at Waveny Senior Center. She was an energetic and young spirited woman who loved playing cards, Scrabble, having a Mojito, and sharing jokes with others.
The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses of Norwalk Hospital for their compassion, kindness, and care that they gave Amy during her stay.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at Saint Aloysius Church, New Canaan, CT., Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at 11AM. Entombment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, New Canaan. There will be no calling hours.
