Obituary of Sharon Carr

Sharon Daly Carr, age 71, a long-time resident of New Canaan, Connecticut and Chatham, Massachusetts died peacefully on Tuesday, November 21 at Norwalk Hospital with her loving family by her side. Sharon was born on September 10, 1946 to Alfred F. Daly and Mary Henri on Staten Island, New York. She is survived by her loving husband and best friend of over 50 years, Richard, her daughters Adrienne Sparks (John) of Harvard, MA, Jennifer Casper (Scott) of New Canaan and Christina Carr also of New Canaan, as well as two grandsons, Aidan and William, whom she adored. She was predeceased by her parents and brother, Wayne Daly. Before moving to New Canaan, she spent many wonderful years raising her girls in Bedford and Bronxville, NY. She loved her family and together they created countless memories. In every home she made, she surrounded her family with music ranging from Artie Shaw and Frank Sinatra to Fleetwood Mac and her favorite flowers, tulips and peonies. Sharon was a sentimental person, and had a true appreciation for all things classic including antiques, old movies and historic places. She was an avid reader and her love of learning never ceased. She was always with a book or newspaper and never missed an opportunity to take her grandsons to Elm Street Books. Whether traveling to Charleston, SC, the Loire Valley, Ocean Reef Club in Key Largo, FL or spending time at home in New Canaan or Chatham, she loved to be with her family. She was beautiful inside and out and made an impression on everyone she met. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Sharon will always be remembered for her classic sense of style, her intelligence, wit and unwavering devotion to her loved ones. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the New Canaan Historical Society or National Disaster Search Dog Foundation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, November 28 at 11:00AM at St. Aloysius in New Canaan. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, New Canaan, CT.
