Janet Hallock Reed, age 90 a longtime New Canaan resident died peacefully Saturday July 29, 2017. Born in Summit, NJ March 18, 1927 she was the daughter of the late Wilton and Hortense Shaffer Hallock. Janet was predeceased by her husband Donald Reed in 1999. Mrs. Reed attended Syracuse University, where she met her beloved husband. Janet was a long time member of the Stamford Yacht Club, where she and Don were avid sailors. Mrs. Reed was always the navigator directing adventures up and down the eastern seaboard to their winter home in Isle of Palms, South Carolina. She was also a long serving member of the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and Meals on Wheels. Mrs. Reed’s devotion to family and her firm belief in God were evident in her well lived life. Janet is survived by her son, Peter Reed of Silverthorne, CO, three daughters, Holley Wright(David) of New Canaan, Robin Blose (Roger) of Fairfield, CT and Heather James (Jeff) of Canton, CT and grandchildren Jonathan James (Laura) and Ashley James of Ocean Grove, NJ, Bailey Malbuff (Aaron) of Lynchburg, VA, and MacLean Wright of New Canaan, CT. In addition to her husband Janet was predeceased by a son Duncan Reed. A funeral service will be held on Saturday , August 5, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church, South Ave., New Canaan with Interment to follow in Lakeview Cemetery, New Canaan.
