Obituary of Vincent Coccoli
Vincent Coccoli, age 82, a resident of Norwalk, CT for over 50 years died peacefully Monday evening, May 29 in Wilton Meadows. Born in Arce, Italy, January 19, 1935, he was the son of the late Antonio and Virginia Grimaldi Coccoli. He was predeceased by his wife Adelina Acciavatti Coccoli in 2008.
At the age of 15, Vinny joined the Italian navy, in which he proudly served as a steam engine mechanic for 13 years. His navy experience gave him the skills that launched his career in the U.S. as a marine mechanic and owner/proprietor of Vinco Marine Services in Norwalk. He immigrated to the U.S. in 1963 where he met, fell in love with, and married his beloved wife, Adelina. In the early 1970’s, he purchased McMichael’s boat yard in Norwalk changing the name to Vinco Marina and later Harbor Watch Marina. He also operated the World’s Fair Marina in Queens, NY until his retirement in the late 90’s.
Vincent is survived by his two sons, Antonio Coccoli (Charlene) of Redding , CT, Vincenzo F. Coccoli of Midvale, UT, two daughters, Virginia Pokora (Lorenzo) of Norwalk, CT and Lucia Coccoli (John Cronin) of Stratford, CT, two sisters, Maria Santina Coccoli and Angelina Capparelli both of White Plains, NY, one brother, Mario Coccoli of Las Vegas, NV, and seven grandchildren, Clara and Charles Coccoli, Alex and Deanna Cronin, Vincenzo Bao Coccoli, and Christopher and Katie Pokora.
In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a brother Giuseppe (Peppino) Coccoli.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday June 3, 2017 at 10:00AM in the Hoyt Funeral Home, 199 Main Street, New Canaan. Entombment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Port Chester, NY. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 4 to 8 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the American Cancer Society.
