Obituary of Romolo Prosio
Romolo Prosio, 103, a life long resident of New Canaan, died peacefully at home with family at his side. Born on November 2, 1913, he was the son of late Peter and Marietta, from Italy. He is predeceased by his brothers Remo, Amerigo,
Edmund, his sister Emma, and his wife, Rose, in 2005. Survivors include his son Peter Prosio and daughter-in-law Mary Parker of New Canaan, CT, and their children Kristen and Angie, daughter Marietta Hanson, her husband Guy of Norwalk, CT.
In his early years, Romolo worked to help support his family. He served in World War II on a mine sweep, YMS-274, in New Orleans; and after the war worked as an electrician. He loved spending time in his garden, growing vegetables and enjoying the sunshine. He enjoyed spending time with his family. Sunday afternoon outings with everyone always put a smile on his face. He also spent a lot of time in his kitchen cooking.
Romolo was a blessing to his family and will be missed immensely. He had a heart of gold and was always generous, kind, and loving. A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Romolo’s life will be Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at 10am at St. Aloysius Church in New Canaan, CT. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery.
