Dear Meg, It was a feeling of great sorrow I felt when seeing your Mom's obituary in the Advertiser. But that turned to joy reading your Mom's wonderful history. In my limited time knowing her back in the day she was a "stonewall" and "pillar" of warmth, joy and forgiveness. I will always remember her fondly. Wishing you and all your family all the best. Fondly, Terry

New Canaan has lost another STAR! What a fantastic lady! Growing up on Richmond Hill she would always have time to say hi, and ask how I was doing. Marianne had one of best smiles I can remember, she will be missed!

Dearest Dolan family, I loved being your around-the-corner neighbor while growing up, and as such had many wonderful opportunities to be with your mom. She was always so kind and gracious to me, even throwing a bridal shower for me many years ago. She so obviously loved all of you. One might say her love for you was fierce! Her passing will be a loss to all of you and the New Canaan community. May she Rest In Peace.

Thank you mother for taking on the hand you were dealt. Leaving comfort for our security. You were the best of all things in a strong Irish woman. You never gave in, you never quit. You steeled yourself, entered a man's world and made your way, our way, with grace and pride. You loved us with the energy you had left taking little for yourself. You taught us principles and values which made us successful, each of us in our own way. I was a challenging child, I challenged most everything, including you, frequently. Imagine that, I became a Trial Lawyer. It seems you were right - I have an answer for everything. As we both aged we had the freedom and perspective to grow closer. As I watched you die there passed between us, a moment, when you could no longer speak where your soul and mine, free from the rust of our past, touched with the purest form of love. It was worth waiting a lifetime for. I hope you and John are together, happy, in the love of each other's arms. We miss you but you remain in our blood, the blood of a strong Irish woman.

I was so fortunate to work with Marianne for many years at Country Living.Halstead in addition t being family friends. She was a valuable member of the community and shared with me the gift of her experience. She will be missed. Knowing she is at peace and lived a very full life hopefully will bring you all comfort during this difficult time.
