Obituary of Audrey Tiani
Audrey P. Tiani, 88, of Madison, CT passed away on January 7, 2017 at Yale – New Haven Hospital with her loving family by her side.
Audrey was born in Stamford, CT on July 19, 1928 to the late Joseph and Mary Ahearn Tiani.
After graduating from Southern CT State University, Audrey got her Master’s Degree in Education. She was an educator in New Haven for most of her working life. She began as a teacher at Nathan Hale School and later was one of the pioneers of the Bank Street Follow Through Program, where she was the Principal and Project Coordinator of that program throughout New haven for several years.
When not working, Audrey was an avid gardener and loved traveling, taking many road trips throughout the United States.
Audrey is survived in life by her loving sister Marguerite Tiani Smith, of Norwalk, CT. She is also survived by six nieces and nephews, Linda Dvornek of Norwalk, Sister Lorraine Tiani of New Canaan, Fredrick Tiani of New Canaan, William Sigler of Stamford, Gregory Sigler of Cos Cob, and Gail Curcio of Indiantown, Florida. She is pre-deceased by brothers Arthur, Raymond, and Fredrick Tiani, and sister Catherine Tiani Sigler.
The family will receive friends and family at Hoyt Funeral Home in New Canaan on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 from 9:30 to 11:30AM. A Mass of Christian burial to Celebrate Audrey’s life will be held at St. Matthew Church in Norwalk on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at 12:00PM. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Norwalk, CT.
