Obituary of Mike McEnaney

Michael Owen McEnaney, 67 years old of Venice, Florida, previously of Trumbull and Greenwich, CT, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 21st with his loving wife, Amy, by his side. Michael served as a Specialist in the US ARMY Security Agency, stationed in Augsburg, Germany, served as a Fairfield Co. Deputy Sherriff, became a New Canaan, CT Police Officer and proudly served the town of New Canaan for 28 years before retiring as Sergeant in 2006. MIchael was a graduate of Greenwich High School Class of 69. Michael earned his BS in Criminal Justice from Iona College. Following retirement, Michael and Amy moved to Venice, FL where he became an active member of the Moose Lodge in 2006, and elected governor in 2014 to present. Michael was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend to many. He was widely known for his loyalty, generosity, animated story telling, gregarious sense of humor, and his fun loving occasional pranks. Michael and Amy loved to travel, they especially enjoyed Aruba and Ireland. While in Ireland Michael took great pride in establishing himself in his heritage and endearing himself to relatives. Michael was predeceased by his parents, John and Kitty McEnaney. He is survived by his wife, Amy, of 43 years; his three sons, Ryan (wife Jamie), Kevin (wife Jennifer), and Timothy (wife Arelis), and his six grandchildren Aidan, Grady, Lanie, Cormick, Mason and Logan. Brothers, Brian (wife Dotty), and Sean; sisters Susan Hogan (Jim) and Kathleen; two nieces Kerry Ballassone, Katie McEnaney, and nephew Jimmy Hogan. A Service was held with full military honors at the Sarasota Veterans Cemetery. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday Dec, 17, at 11:00Am in St Aloysius Church, Cherry Street, New Canaan.
