Obituary of Elaine Tiani

Elaine E. Tiani, age 82, a longtime New Canaan resident died peacefully Saturday, November 19, 2016, at Norwalk Hospital, with her loving family by her side. Born in Norwalk, July 3, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Ethel Mezzo Garvey. Elaine was predeceased by her husband Daniel in 2001. Elaine grew up in South Norwalk. She graduated Norwalk High School class of 1952. She was a homemaker and worked as a caregiver during her time spent living in New Canaan. She put her warmth and love into caring for her husband Danny and the rest of her family. She loved her time spent with her grandchildren laughing, playing and just being silly. Summertime was her favorite time of the year, as it meant many weekends camping with her friends and it was where she made her best memories. Elaine was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. During the last two years Elaine was a resident of Maplewood of Strawberry Hill. It was where she enjoyed sitting with her best friend June talking about whatever came their way. Elaine is survived by her two sons, Daniel J. Tiani, Jr (Fiancee’ Meredith) and Michael C. Tiani (Jacqueline) of Norwalk, three daughters, Deborah A. Abbott(James) of Wilton, Karen E. Hussey(Joseph, Jr.) of Norwalk and Patricia Ferris(David) of Monroe, one brother, Daniel Garvey (Marie) of San Diego, CA, two sisters, Patricia Bannon of Tiburon, CA, and Catherine Kovacs (George) of Norwalk, seven grandchildren, Michael, Heather, Patrick, Billy, Meghan, Daniel, Jon and four great-grandchildren, Victoria, Emma, Alexandra and Anthony. She was predeceased by her brother Thomas Garvey, Jr. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, November 25, 2016 at 10:00Am in St Aloysius Church, Cherry St., New Canaan. Interment will be in St John Cemetery, Norwalk. There are no calling hours. The Hoyt Funeral Home, New Canaan is in charge of arrangements.
