She was born April 28, 1928 in East Orange, NJ, to Aaron Pitt Mitchell and Madelaine Pring Mitchell. She married William M. “Pete” Throop Jr. on March 31, 1951. Ann was a graduate of Chatham Hall School and Connecticut College, where she was president of her junior class. She and her husband chose New Canaan to raise their family. She continued to live there for the rest of her life among many friends. Ann taught nursery school in New York and New Canaan and Sunday school at St. Mark’s Church. She loved spending time with her family, often at their farm in Hebron, NY, and studying the work of Carl Jung. Her nurturing spirit, inquisitive mind, and unfailing support will be missed by all. Her enthusiasm and passion for life served as a model.
