Surrounded by her loving family, Emilie Iselin Wiggin, age 90, died of natural causes at her home in Stamford, CT on Aug 15, 2013. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were blessed with the gift of sharing their love, memories, laughter and tears with her prior to her passing. A resident of Darien, CT from 1948, and a summer resident of Blue Hill, ME, Emilie was born October 24, 1922 to the late O’Donnell and Urling Sibley Iselin. She was a dedicated wife and mother, and an active member of her community and church. She supported many outreach and not-for–profits in the area, and as one of the founding members she had a special interest in Person-to-Person. A life-long sailor, she was also a long-time member of Noroton Yacht Club. She was pre-deceased by husbands Gordon B. Whelpley in 1965 and Rollin H. Wiggin in 2003. She is survived by her daughters Katharine Draper and husband Arthur of Rowayton, CT, Anne Shaw and husband Alan of Darien, CT, Patricia Barton and husband William of Bolinas, CA, Pamela Barry and husband Jon of Darien, CT, and her sons Gordon Whelpley and wife Maria of Redding, CT, Alec Wiggin and wife Gail of Darien, CT, Theodore Wiggin and wife Priscilla of Blue Hill, ME, and 20 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A memorial service for family and friends will be held at 11am on Tuesday, September 3rd at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 1848 Post Road in Darien. A reception will follow at the church.
