Ruth Batterson Lewis of New Canaan, passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2016 at the age of 88, at Waveny Care Center. She was born September 25, 1927 in Mt. Kisco, NY to the late Herbert and Francesca (Ruckerl) Batterson. Ruth moved to New Canaan as a child and graduated from New Canaan High School, class of 1945. Except for living in Spring Hill, Florida for several years, she lived in New Canaan most of her life. She worked as a receptionist in the office of Dr. Charles Crown for many years. Ruth is survived by three children Karen Ericson (Rick) of New Canaan, Drue Thompson (Steve) of Milford, and Mark Lewis (Margie) of Bridgeport. She is also survived by three grandsons Scott Ericson (Kristen) of New Canaan, Brian Ericson (Sabrina) of New Canaan and Brad Ericson (Allison) of Trumbull. Also surviving her are six precious great-grandsons William, Cooper, Jack, Tommy, Sammy and Deacon Ericson. Ruth is also survived by her sister Virginia Champion of Spring Hill, Florida. She was predeceased by her former husband Chester R. Lewis, Jr., her siblings George Batterson, Mark Batterson, and Grace Sammis, as well as her parents. Funeral services for Ruth will be private. There will be no calling hours.
