Obituary of Patrick Ruddy
Patrick Joseph Ruddy, Sr., 97, a longtime resident of Melbourne, Florida, died on Sunday, August 11th at Phelps Memorial Hospital in Sleepy Hollow, New York. Born in Manhattan on June 21, 1916, he was the second of eight children and the eldest son of Patrick and Sarah (McAllister) Ruddy. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 74 years, Margaret (Langley), one great-grandchild, and five siblings. He is survived by seven children, Patrick Jr., Margaret Wallace, Kathryn Hudson, Robert (Ethel), Barbara (Jan) Wines, Richard (Cathey), and Brian (Yvonne); 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Theresa Smith and Margaret Newcombe. Highly inquisitive and a lover of New York City history, he was a longtime employee of the New York City Transit Authority. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 31st at 11:30 a.m. at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church in New Canaan, Connecticut.
