Obituary of Theresa Dolan
M. Theresa Dolan, Born January 22, 1923 in Philadelphia, PA. Deceased June 24, 2016, New Canaan, CT. Pre-deceased in death by her parents Nicholas and Minnie Voci, her brothers Nick and George Voci, her sisters Kathleen and Mary, and her husband Raymond B. Dolan.
M. Theresa Dolan is survived by her 4 children Paul Dolan, wife Mary Anne, Sharon Dolan, Ronald Dolan, wife Linda, Donald Dolan. Grandchildren are: Marty, Christopher, Nicholaus, Geoffrey, Sheridan, Christy, Ryan and Randi. As a great grandmother and great aunt she is also survived by 9 Great Grandchildren - Andrew, Logan, Zoey, Aria, Kate, Makenna, Miles, Cory, and Zane and 6 nieces and their children along with her beloved Great Grand Dog Riley.
As a child, M. Theresa Voci grew up on Denton Street, Brockton, MA, where she completed High School and then went on to complete her studies for nursing in Boston and Providence, RI. January 3, 1945 she joined the United States Army, Nurse Corp and took assignment to the 374th General Hospital Group and was deployed to Tinian Island in the South Pacific. Shortly after her arrival and working with her team to establish medical services and evacuation hospital, she met Captain Raymond B. Dolan, a member of the 20th Air Force, 9th Bombing Group. Upon returning after WWII, they were married in Brockton, MA on May 25, 1946.
She was a unique person and larger than life itself. In 1955, with her husband, adopted the 1st of four children. Her unquantifiable love for her family will be her legacy. She devoted her life to demonstrating her love and devotion for her family and friends. She loved Hawaii and shared her love of Hawaii with all of her children. She was a part of every family event, big and small. Although she has left us, she will always be close to us in our hearts and memories.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at 1:00pm in St. Aloysius Church, 23 Cherry St., New Canaan, CT. Entombment with military honors will follow in Lakeview Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday morning from 11:00am-12:30pm at Hoyt funeral home, 199 Main St., New Canaan.
