Obituary of Marjorie Wilson

Marjorie Riddell Wilson, 88, of Meadow Ridge formerly a New Canaan resident for over 52 years died peacefully Saturday April 9, 2016 with her loving family by her side. Born in Hartford, CT October 11, 1927 she was the daughter of the late John Baird and Margaret Greenland Riddell. Marjorie was predeceased by her husband James L. Wilson who died in 2014. Marjorie began dancing at a very young age and was a graduate of the University of Hartford’s esteemed Hartt School of Music. An accomplished ballet dancer and singer, Marjorie was a cast member of the 1947-1949 Tony award winning Broadway show - High Button’s Shoes Staring; Eddie Foy Jr., Nanette Fabray, Phil Silvers, choreographed by Jerome Robbins. She sang in the church choir for many years and taught dancing and ballet. She was very active in her younger days in the New Canaan Women’s Club as well as many other activities and organizations in New Canaan. She enjoyed traveling, painting, drawing, needle point, and knitting. Marjorie is survived by her daughter, Donna Wilson Swigart (Mark) of Sandy Hook, CT, three sons, J. David Wilson (Sandra) of Darien, CT, John K. Wilson (Kathleen) of Wilton, CT and Robert B. Wilson (Julia) of Lexington, VA. Nine grandchildren also survive. In addition to her husband and parents, Marjorie was predeceased by her sister Janice Riddell and granddaughter Jamie Wilson. Services and Interment will be private.
